Advanced Course

To apply for the Advanced course students need to be at grade 7- diploma standard. If you are not awarded a place on the Advanced course you will be offered the option of a place on the string course where the faculty will work with you and advise on next steps to help you attain the right standard for Advanced Course in future years.
The Advanced Course students will be working on challenging chamber and orchestra repertoire and students will have the opportunity to play in our competition/masterclass series with visiting top professional musicians from Europe. The competition/masterclass series is optional but those wishing to play will need to prepare a piece in advance.
The VIMA Advanced course is by recorded audition. Candidates are required to record two contrasting pieces. These do not need to be professionally recorded. Recording on a smart phone at home is fine. We are looking for musicality and technical ability. Please upload this is an online link to view e.g. YouTube or Vimeo.
